Trump campaign preps desperate massive voter turnout effort in must-win 2020 swing states

The people running Donald Trump's 2020 re-election effort don't lead with it, but they clearly know they are trying to thread one of tiniest needles in American history. Between the array of looming investigations into Trump and his massive hit in popularity among women and the suburbs, recreating the narrow 80,000-vote margin that pushed him over the top in 2016 could be next to impossible.

Still, they plan to trade on Trump's fervent bigotry, shift his slogan to "Keep America Great!" and launch a massive Get Out The Vote effort in the states he can't afford to lose: Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Campaign officials told the Washington Post they’re devising a plan to target 23 million critical voters in those states "aimed at dwarfing any previous presidential reelection effort." This time around, the data-driven GOTV effort will get an immediate boost from the Republican National Committee that it didn't initially benefit from in 2016. In addition, Trump's campaign coffers are already teeming with more than $100 million from fundraising.

“We are creating the largest campaign operation in American history, an unstoppable apparatus that will follow and implement President Trump’s strategy to great effect,” campaign manager Brad Parscale told the Post. “On every metric, we are on track to outpace our 2016 numbers by many multiples.”

Good luck. Not only did the 2018 midterms lay bare some of Trump's biggest electoral weaknesses, but the budget the White House just released has three main aspirations: building Trump's pet wall, cutting Medicare, and killing Medicaid. None of those issues enjoys majority support among voters, not to mention the fact that in 2016 Trump promised to protect Medicare and Medicaid, and that Mexico would foot the bill for his precious border wall. So Trump’s three main goals for the coming legislative year directly conflict with pledges he made to win election in the first place. #KAG
