House will vote June 11 on contempt charges against Trump attorney general and White House counsel

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has announced a date for a vote on whether to hold Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Donald McGahn in contempt of Congress. On Donald Trump’s orders, McGahn refused to testify to the House Judiciary Committee on his actions as outlined in special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report. Trump Attorney General Barr was held in contempt of the committee in early May for his refusal to provide documents associated with that report.

The vote will take place on Tuesday, June 11.

“This Administration’s systematic refusal to provide Congress with answers and cooperate with Congressional subpoenas is the biggest cover-up in American history, and Congress has a responsibility to provide oversight on behalf of the American people,” Hoyer said in a statement Monday night.
