I have been in the middle of all kinds of bizarre scenes over the past months while covering the radical right, but the craziest video I took this year occurred while U was breathing fresh air and recuperating from the ugliness: On Washington’s San Juan Island in August, I happened to snag the below scene of J pod orcas performing their famous “greeting ceremony” with members of the J-16 subpod.
The very next day, I was able to get a recording of these same orcas on the island’s western side, near Lime Kiln Lighthouse. So I added those sounds to this soundtrack.
