Energy Secretary Rick Perry is working his way to the White House exit according to "two people familiar with his plans" who spoke to Bloomberg. He "hasn't fully made up his mind" one other person tells them, and another says his "exit isn't imminent" and his spokeswoman Shaylyn Hunes says "He is happy where he is serving President Trump and leading the Department of Energy," other sources still insist he's greasing the skids for his departure.
That supposedly includes preparing his deputy, Dan Brouillette, to take over according to Bloomberg's sources. What's behind his purported intent to leave? "Part of Perry's motivation in seeking to leave before the end of Trump's first term is a desire to build his income before retiring, two people said." He'd be in a good position to use that revolving door to do that, given how lucrative a short career in the energy sector could prove to be.
